Alice Versions
Alice is available in three
separate versions: |
 |
The regular
online version of Alice is designed for multi-agency
coalitions and requires Internet access. Client data is stored
in a remote, centralized database.
|
 |
Alice Local
is identical to the online version in features and functions
but it runs offline by default. Both the program and database
reside on the host agency’s computer. Alice Local is
completely Internet-ready. With the purchase of a static IP
address (available from local phone companies), staff in
remote offices can use Alice Local to connect with the same
database as staff in the main office.
|
 |
Alice Non-Residential removes references
to a shelter facility and is well-suited for use by sexual assault
agencies. It can be configured in either online or local mode.

Hardware Requirements & Security - Alice software
is compatible with any version of Windows® from Windows 95®
on. It requires less than 10 MB of disk space and 20 MB of memory.
Multi-agency versions of the program store data in a central location
that is accessed via the Internet. Single-agency versions run entirely
off-line and allow for optional Internet access from remote sites.
Security is ensured through encryption of the Alice software, database,
and all communication with the database.
Affordability - The single agency version of Alice
is available for a one-time price of $1,150. An annual $280 upgrade
and support fee provides technical support by phone or email and regular
software upgrades during the course of the year. There are no per-user charges for Alice
software. Training is provided by telephone at the rate of $80 per hour to get staff up and running
or to assist with specialized data entry or reporting needs. Basic user training takes two hours, and
customization training for administrators takes about three-quarters of an hour.
Customers - Alice software is being used by domestic
violence and sexual assault agencies in 35 states. It has been adopted by 11
statewide coalitions on behalf of their member agencies. Alice is equally at home
in small agencies and those with in-house technical staff and multiple locations.
The common denominator is the remarkably positive feedback that staff offer on
the program's ease of use and range of features.
Demonstration Version -
A demonstration version of Alice is available that showcases all features and
allows entry of sample data. The demonstration version can be run
on any computer that has Internet access and some version of the
Windows® operating system. Email
to request more information or a free copy of the
Alice demonstration version.
